The End - Holidailies 2004 2005-01-07
Dang. I've got like 20 minutes to get this entry up on Holidailies. January 6 is the last day and luckily the website isn't on EST.

So Vegas! We really had a ball. No money was won, but we didn't come home with empty pockets. We lost fast playing blackjack the first day and that soured our desire to play with that much. So we spent a lot of time drinking Baileys and coffee (D) and margaritas (me) at the penny and nickel machines playing video poker and blackjack. We just thoroughly enjoyed hanging out with each other. It was a great vacation and I'm ready to go back.

But here's a little tragic story for you. We don't have DVR/TiVO in my household (yes, that's tragic, but not the most tragic part). D and I were scheduled to touch down at the Columbus airport at 9:15 pm last night. So because of the whole lack of DVR/TiVO thing, I had to use my VCR for the first time since moving. I found a tape, I tested the tape, I tested the connections, I set the timer and I felt comfortable that all was well.

Well. We don't arrive in Columbus at 9:15 pm last night (that didn't make a difference with to the VCR, but it makes the story more tragic). Instead we're in Cleveland for over 5 1/2 hours (three of that on the plane, first at the gate, then about 50 feet from the gate), waiting out the snow and the rain and the de-icing for our short little connecting flight home. When we do finally arrive home in the wee hours of this morning, I find my VCR timer blinking angrily at me. Turns out I hadn't properly set the recording speed and the tape had ended before my shows had. Deep breath. Okay. That's okay. I'll just watch LOST (my newest fave show) and ALIAS until it runs out, then call my friend Kyra and get the ALIAS low down on what didn't tape at the end. I rewind said tape, push play and discover nothing but blue screen. No LOST, no ALIAS, no nothing. I know the set up is right because I can still view the few minutes of the tape at the beginning that didn't get taped over.

So I'm screwed. No LOST and no ALIAS. And damn ABC, no Saturday night repeats of either show because of football. ARGH - the inhumanity!

Job or no job, I think I'm calling the cable company today and getting DVR.
