| Day 8 2004-12-14 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| I fear I'm getting entirely too used to this whole not working thing. I'm not quite sure I'll be able to go back to a regular work schedule. Well, I will, but it'll be difficult because I'll have to say goodbye to lovely days like today.
My mom stayed with us last night so this morning, per usual, she awoke at the crack of dawn while D and I slept in. Happily we now have a working coffee maker, so she was able to make some for herself and not have to trudge out in the cold for a cup of java (like she always had to do at my house in Cinti). We eventually peeled ourselves out of bed and accompanied Mom to First Watch for brunch with her friend Terri who lives in Columbus. After that, we dropped D at home and Mom and I went shopping. She insisted on using her Talbots coupon on me (no, really - insisted), so she bought me a pretty yellow turtleneck for $13. I proceeded to pick up a number of things on my gift list (plus other fun things, like Xmas stockings for me and D), so it was a very productive trip. Oh, and best of all, Yankee Candle is making Jack Frost again! They didn't make it last year and I was pissed. I even wrote them an email about it, which I never do. Apparently they wised up and figured they didn't want a pox on their house so they resurrected it this year. And it's even 25% off right now, so YC is really winning points and getting back on my good side. After the mall, we went across the street for tasty goodness at Panera, where D met us. Mom went home from there and D and I hit a couple more stores for more gift shopping. Now we're home, both with new computer games for ourselves and some things for other people. I thought about getting The Sims, but from what Erin says, it's as addicting as crack, I don't want to lose ten hours a day to it because I so easily could. So instead I got Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude because it has an end, I won't get addicted, it makes me giggle and you don't have to kill people or figure out alternative worlds. Now, see how full my life is and how much I'll have to give up when I start working eight hours a day again? |
