| Day 5 2004-12-11 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Well, crap, I missed day four of Holidailies. I suck, but I'll try to make up for it by doing three entries this weekend.
Yesterday was D's last day on the job. He's now unemployed by choice, just like me. I'm unemployed because I had to quit my job so I could move 100 miles up I-71, get married and live with my husband. His reason for unemployment is he hated selling cookies. Honestly, I don't blame him one bit. There was a lot of heavy lifting, cold, rainy weather, early hours and crap pay involved. I'm actually the one who first mentioned him quitting. He wasn't happy in the job, we knew it didn't have a future and I know he'd be more motivated to find another gig once he was completely out of that one. We've got enough money in the bank to tide us over for a long time, although I'm hoping we won't need to use much of it. I would not be at all surprised if he got a new job before I did, even though I've been actively looking for three months. He's going back to computers and there are just more gigs out there for him. Do you know I've applied for at least a dozen jobs online and I haven't heard a positive response from a single one? I mean, it's not like I'm applying for things I'm completely unqualified for. I think one thing that may be hindering me is that my last job title was 'promotion manager' and the jobs I'm interested in and applying for are titled 'marketing manager'. And get this - about six weeks after I left my promotion manager job, the regional boss told everyone to start labeling themselves marketing managers. I'm thinking I'll just change it on my resume, too. Okay, I just did - I made my last title marketing & promotion manager. That should have no trouble flying. I also changed my last name on the resume from my maiden to my married, even though I have yet to change it officially. The whole process intimidates the heck out of me and I hardly know where to start. I need to email two friends who got married in Ohio this year and ask them how to do it. A big day of cleaning the house, shopping for presents online and addressing Christmas cards is on tap for me. I'm sure when I update tonight I'll have lots of exciting things to share. You betcha. |
