| 2005 is almost over, so it’s time for MoreHusband and MoreSarah to recap the year for friends and family far and wide. The happy couple rang in the year with a fun and quick trip to Las Vegas. MoreHusband particularly enjoyed watching the many college football bowl games on ten foot screens in various sports books about town. MoreSarah, on the other hand, took pleasure in nickel video poker and bloody marys. MoreHusband did a bit of job hopping while working as a consultant for most of the year. For the last six months, he’s been at ABC Corporate Headquarters and expects to be hired by the company come January. MoreSarah, on the other hand, continues to be jobless and correspondingly astounded by the lack of insight shown by local hiring managers when it comes to staffing their marketing positions. During this first year of marriage, domestic duties were (mostly) tacitly divided, with MoreHusband mowing the lawn, carrying the full trash bags from the back porch to the dumpster and vacuuming upstairs and down. MoreSarah, on the other hand, handles the laundry, grocery shopping, bill paying, errand running, litter box scooping, weed pulling, bathroom cleaning and dish washing, which officially makes her a housewife. MoreHusband indulged a favorite hobby and consumed his fare share of wine throughout the year, all under the guise of ‘educating his palate’. MoreSarah, on the other hand -- well, there is no other hand as she did exactly the same thing. The blessings for this new family have been many. They know how lucky they were to have MoreHusband's grandmother Nan in their lives before she passed away in November. They are grateful to OSU’s vet hospital for taking care of their cat while he continues treatment for lymphoma. They are fortunate to have visited with many family members this year and added new friends to their lives. Their ‘to do’ list for the upcoming year includes securing gainful employment for MoreSarah, attending yoga classes together, spoiling the aforementioned cancer kitty, going on regular dates (with each other, of course) and getting used to writing about themselves in the third person. |
