Didn't get that job either 2005-09-16
Just a quick update on that job possibility from earlier in the week. After being told I'd know one way or the other on Monday, then told I'd know on Tuesday, I didn't know until Wednesday morning. The company I interviewed with called the consulting company that presented me (and two others) for the contract job and said they'd decided to not move forward with the position after all. ! Apparently they're going to revisit the duties of the position and really figure out what they want/need this person to do, then they'll staff it. Good grief. So I didn't lose this gig to someone else, I lost it to no one else. Is that a vote of no confidence? Bah on them.

At least I didn't have to cut my camping trip short, which was fun. My friend Natalie is such a good person and enjoyable to be around, as are her kids (even though the oldest had some going to bed issues both nights). I'm pleased I finally swung a golf club again after not doing so for the last two years. I bought a bucket at a nearby driving range and hit pretty well considering how long it's been since I've been out there. Now I've got that good kind of sore in my arms, shoulders and back plus a blister on my thumb. I like feeling just a touch athletic.

The last official document with my maiden name on it is my passport. I've been slacking on getting that changed because I have to get a certifed marriage abstract to send in with the change request. To get that, I have to send a money order and form to the local probate court. Not a big deal, but just something easy to procrastinate. So finally at the end of August I bought the money order, filled out the form and sent it all in for the abstract. Yesterday when I got back from camping, this was waiting in the mail -

"The Court has received your request for a Certified Abstract of your marriage. Upon review of the Court's records, we have discovered that we did not receive notification that you had a marriage ceremony after you received your marriage license. In order for the Court to correct this oversight, you should contact the person who performed your marriage ceremony and ask that person to provide the Court with a letter (on letterhead) stating where, when, and by whom the marriage ceremony was performed."

Holy crap! Is there any way that means we haven't been 'officially' married for this last year? I don't really think so, but it just kinda freaks me out a tad. I can't believe the minister who married us, a long-time family friend, didn't take care of this. It's not like he doesn't do marriage ceremonies almost every week. I scanned the court's letter and emailed it to him this morning, so I'm hoping we can get this cleared up asap and MoreHusband and I can be 'official'. Geez.
