| Gah, this whole updating the diary thing seems a bit too complicated for me these days. That's pretty lame of me.
No job news - I'm still unemployed. Still haven't heard back from any more prospective employers, which sucks, but hey, their loss. I am loving the bright side of the whole situation - having the time to do whatever I want, like go to Cinti on Friday to help a friend unpack at her new apartment. My bad news lately is that we've got a sick kitty. Our vet has seen him twice (to the tune of $500) and doesn't know what's wrong. Poor thing has been hiding under the guest bed for almost two weeks now. He's eating a lot less and by our best guess, he's shed almost four pounds. Four! (We weighed him at home last fall and he was almost 21 lbs; at the vet last Sunday, he was 18; yesterday at the vet, he was 17.) His bloodwork is completely normal (the vet actually said it was the best bloodwork she'd seen in a long time - yay for the healthy and fat!) and so were his x-rays. Both times they tried and failed to get urine from him, but she has no other tests she can do at her offices, so she's referred us to OSU vet school. I called this morning and the earliest appointment I can get is Thursday afternoon, but we're on a waiting list for cancellations. Really, the kitty seems okay right now. He just doesn't want to move very much because he seems to be having problems with his back legs. This is why he's not eating much, I think. But I'm plying him with tuna (his favorite) and some Whiskas pate that he's liking as well. My poor baby kitty. I was telling D it's almost like the kitty is already gone because he's not out and about with us and I miss him. He's a very social cat who wants to be on a lap if possible or, at the very least, in the same room with his people. And for him to isolate himself like this just breaks my heart. And as of yesterday, I've got a friend in the hospital with blood clots. She had gastric bypass surgery 2 1/2 weeks ago and developed these clots as a result (in my opinion, because she was inactive; according to her, some people are just prone to them; okay, whatever). They put her on blood thinners and she'll be in until at least Wednesday, but she's very lucky the consequences weren't worse (she's got them in both lungs and at least one leg). I'm going to visit later today and take her magazines as I'm sure she's bored out of her mind. Well, if I'm going to accomplish anything today, I'd better shower and get dressed. The robe and slippers I'm sporting won't get me far. |
