| A February update 2005-03-01 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Daaaang. It's been about a month since I last updated. That's no way to play.
I wish I had scintillating stories to regale you with, but alas, I do not. Things have pretty much been the same, with a few exceptions. One of the best things about this past month is that I met Lauren in person! She's lovely and smart and fun and we've had a great time together. Hopefully our schedules will mesh in the next week and I'll have her over for dinner so she can meet D and our portly kitty. I had my very first job interview last Thursday. I think it went well, but I meshed better with the HR person than the hiring manager, so I'm not terribly confident in the outcome. They'll be doing second interviews this week or next and they want someone to start asap, so at least I won't be hanging for long. The job is a step down in title and pay (probably by a couple grand) from my last one, but it's a brand new position, which is appealing. I like the company and there is growth potential there, so I'm hoping I'll get called back. But this waiting around for someone to hire me SUCKS. I've been doing a lot of thinking lately and realized that I've never had a career goal beyond 'get a job' and that's pretty pathetic. It's high time I retrain my brain and get my professional life in order like I have my personal life. So I'm pursuing a business opportunity that I can focus on full-time right now, or part-time if I'm hired elsewhere. D and I finally got some home updating done. We used our Bed, Bath & Beyond wedding gift cards and bought a number of things, including new bedding, which was sorely needed (D's bed in a bag wasn't very nice). We also got roman shades at Lowe's for our bedroom, which were also long overdue. There's only one other project for upstairs left, so I'm feeling pretty good about our progress. After that's done, we'll have to tackle painting the entire downstairs which will be a big job. Really, that's about it. March has come in like a lion around here, with cold temps, high winds and flurries. Hopefully it'll turn lamb-like very soon. |
