| People, I think I've got a new job already.
The marketing director for one of my Columbus clients is following her boyfriend to DC. Since I found that out in May, I've been talking to the boss about the job and now things are happening. I had lunch with her and two of the people from Columbus yesterday. I'm the only person they're talking to and she wants to get this wrapped up within the week. Eek! Once I moved, I was looking forward to being unemployed and taking my time with a job search, but this is a fantastic opportunity to have a job I could really love. The pay won't be much (if any) more than I already make, but they pay for parking downtown, I'll only live three miles away from the office and I'm going to add media buying and budgeting to my skill set. I love the boss and am really looking forward to working with her. She wants to know what you're doing, but doesn't have the time or inclination to micromanage because she's four hours away in Louisville. Do your job and go to her if you need help. Otherwise, she trusts you to get it done, which rocks. I'll have to give my current employer my official two weeks notice as soon as I hear word from the new gig. They know I'm leaving and they've already posted the position, but they think I'll be around until September and can help train my replacement. Unfortunately for them, that's probably not going to happen now. I honestly wasn't going to look for a job until I moved, but then this opportunity fell into my lap. Ah well, they coulda kept me but decided not to. Their loss. So keep your fingers crossed for me that this gig pans out in the next few days so I can get the show on the road! |
