Crap for sale 2004-05-09
I'm so freakin' worn out. And I just slept for ten hours.

Yesterday, D and I had a yard sale at his house. Why didn't anyone tell me how much work it is? Gads. We got up at 4:45 am to set up the tables before D had to go to work at 5:30 am. Then I was there alone to drag stuff out and set it up for the next couple of hours. Happily his neighbors on both sides were selling, too, so I could walk in the house without thinking someone would swipe all our stuff. He got back around 9ish then throughout the course of the day, five of his friends, my mom, his mom and grandmother all stopped by to visit. Who knew yard sales brought people together, too?

The weather was gorgeous but darn hot in the sun by the middle of the day. I got burned on my face and arms after spending the morning shivering with a sweatshirt on.

But boy howdy, did we get rid of stuff! I'd say we sold 60% of what we had. If you took all of my clothes out of the equation (which didn't move much), we probably sold 75% of everything else. And made $600 in the process. Whee!

And the best part? Was that nothing came back in the house! We'd agreed ahead of time that whatever didn't sell was going to Goodwill. So we loaded up D's trailer and took some 20 boxes straight to Goodwill. Double whee!

After we got home, we kept organizing and clearing out the dining room (the staging area for the sale) and found three boxes we never touched and filled up three more boxes with stuff, so we're making another trip to Goodwill today before heading over to his grandmother's for a Mother's Day get together this afternoon.

A very productive weekend, indeed.
