No sleeves for you! 2004-04-09
Monday was indeed fun! My tickets for Opening Day ROCKED - about twenty rows or so just barely to the third base side of home plate! Whee!

My sister-in-law and I had a ball, even though our boys lost. But they took two of three from the Cubs and beat the Pirates tonight. Go Reds!

So yesterday morning I went wedding dress shopping with my mom.

Good grief.

Here's a tip for any of you out there thinking about doing this:

If you're interested in a dress with sleeves? Just stay home.

They just don't make them any more. Seriously. Everything is strapless and sleeveless. And sheer netting? Is not a sleeve. But that's what they tried to pass off as their sleeved dresses.

I tried on exactly one (one!) dress on our excursion and it wasn't even at Bridal & Formal, a wedding dress mecca that draws women from far and wide all over the country. And the one I did try on had the sheer netting sleeves that just don't do it for me.

I was discouraged but it wasn't a wasted trip. At least I learned that what I want probably isn't out there and I'll need to have something made or buy something simple and non-traditional (ie, a dress at a department store).

Mom and I enjoyed each other's company at lunch and then before she took off to visit my nephews, she gifted me with a bagful of wedding porn, er, magazines. She bought me a subscription to Martha Stewart Wedding, but they sent the magazine to her, not me. So she handed those over, plus two InStyle wedding issues (one she bought a year or two ago when my sister got engaged) and one or two other mags. It's probably not a good idea for me to have these. They're just more ideas to add to a brain that's already overloaded and incapable of decision-making.

So this weekend I'm staying home to get done a huge to do list and D is staying home (hopefully) doing the same. I'll be in LA next week for a work conference so I've got much to accomplish before leaving and he's working on his house and painting what will be our bedroom. I can't wait to see it!
